  Caton’s Island
By Lucas Morgan

Have you ever had a boring summer? I know a place where boredom doesn’t exist, Caton’s Island!

Mrs. McIntyre and fellow classmates; Caton’s Island is a Christian camp for kids, teens, and even adults. I have been going to camp at Caton’s since I was 5 years old. It’s located in Grand Bay – Westfield, just outside of Saint John.

Why does boredom not exist at Caton’s Island? Well first you have to take a boat to the island, and then sign in. After that it’s off to our cabin with the counselors to set up our bed spaces and say good bye to the folks…then the fun begins. The activities we do throughout the week are archery, riflery, canoe & kayaks, water trampoline, swimming, low ropes, horse back riding, crafts, slip “n” slide, waterwars, Island Mania, rock-n-slide, rappelling wall and the zipline. And of course, let’s not forget about all the food at the mess hall. The best thing is that we learn about God.

Every day after supper we have one BIG game. When it’s over everyone races to the canteen and then to a huge campfire, where we sing songs, tell jokes and then talk about what we will do the next day.

A week at Caton’s Island may seem like a long time at first but with so much to do it goes by really fast.

Last year I got a job at Caton’s for a week. This year I am going for the whole summer to work. And I can’t wait! NO BORING DAYS FOR ME!
